Dr. Abdullah Abbadi was born in Jordan, and completed his university education in Valencia, Spain obtaining an MD in 1973. He completed postgraduate training in internal medicine, Hematology and Oncology in various university hospitals in England obtaining MRCP (UK) and later FRCP and FRCPath.

He joined the faculty of the medical school of the University of Jordan in Amman and the university hospital (JUH) where he established the service of hematology and oncology as well as the thrombosis-hemostasis research laboratory. He established the BMT service at JUH in 1987, and was promoted to the rank of full professor in 1988.

Dr. Abbadi was a pioneer in the field of hematology/oncology in Jordan and has a strong presence in this field in the region. 

He has held many senior administrative posts including Chairman of Medicine at JUH, medical director of Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar, and President of Balqa University in Jordan. He founded and chaired the stem cell therapy center (CTC) in the University of Jordan. His current research is focused mainly in molecular oncology, stem cell translational research and regenerative medicine.

Dr. Abbadi holds many awards including King Abdullah II Distinction Medal of the first order and State Distinction Award, and has published more than 120 publications. He is married with 6 children and 4 grandchildren.
