Professor Hatem Azim is a medical oncology consultant, an Adjunct Professor at the School of Medicine of the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Senior Oncology faculty at the College of the European School of Oncology. In addition, he also acts as the Chief Medical Officer of Emergence Therapeutics. 

Professor Azim completed his oncology training at the National Cancer Institute in Cairo and the European Institute of Oncology in Milan. He has since held several academic appointments, including scientific director at the Jules Bordet Institute in Brussels and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Oncology at the American University of Beirut. He holds a Master’s degree in oncology from University of Newcastle Upon Tyne and a PhD from the Faculty of Medicine at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. His research expertise is in the field of breast cancer in young women and early drug development.

Professor Azim has published more than 140 manuscripts and 10 books and book chapters. These include highly cited pivotal studies which are considered as references in the field of pregnancy and fertility counselling of young breast cancer patients. He has been invited to speak in more than 20 countries, including at the annual conferences of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO). He has also served as a member on several international guidelines committees in the field of breast cancer in young women and management of pregnancy-associated tumors.

In recognition of his research contributions in the field of oncology, Dr. Azim has received several awards including the ASCO Merit Award, ESMO translational research award, the American Society of Cancer Research (AACR) scholar in training award and the University of Paduva breast cancer award.
