Hospital-Based Health Technology Assessment Program

Academic Program Excellence

The Hospital Based Health Technology Assessment Program of the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) in Amman, Jordan, is a pioneer academic program in the region with the goal of ensuring efficient resource allocation and improving access to highly effective medicines and health technologies.

Since 2013, the program has generated over 40 complete health technology assessments and trained over 200 healthcare providers. In 2016, the program’s one-year health technology assessment fellowship was launched to address capacity building needs in conducting these assessments.

Beyond Jordan’s borders, the program plays a leading role in the region in developing and implementing health technology assessment on all levels and ultimately linking generated evidence to policy recommendations.

The program is implemented by the Center for Drug Policy and Technology Assessment (CDPTA) in KHCC’s Pharmacy Department.
