Promising Researcher Grant

Funding 2-year research proposals to be conducted in the Arab world by promising young researchers, in any discipline related to cancer.

Who Should Apply?

We seek proposals from young researchers in any field of cancer with novel, innovative projects that will be rooted here in the Arab world. We’re endeavoring to equip a talented new generation of researchers with the resources, structure and support to conduct their investigations in our region. We’ll give special consideration to proposals which address research questions specifically related to the incidence and/or manifestation of cancer in the Arab world.

Application Process

Submissions to the Promising Researcher Grant take place in two phases: during the first phase, applicants are asked to provide information on their credentials and a letter of intent with a brief on the proposed project. In the second phase, short-listed applicants will be asked for a comprehensive proposal as well as more detailed information for further assessment.

Eligibility

  • Innovative, bold ideas and with the potential for significant impact in any field of cancer 
  • The researcher must hold an MD or PhD, and should be below 45 years of age.
  • The researcher must reside in the Arab world and implement the research in institutions in the Arab world for the project duration.
  • Researcher must identify a mentor with a minimum of 10 years of experience and at least 10 peer-reviewed publications, and submit a commitment letter confirming the mentor’s support for the project and their commitment to provide mentorship over the two-year period.
  • Previous winners of the promising researcher grant may reapply after five years

     

The Award

  • Recognition in the King Hussein Award Ceremony in Amman, Jordan 
  • Grants of up to $100,000 each
  • Awarded to two grantees annually
